You can find squirrels from the woodlands to the city park, they are almost everywhere. So you have probably seen a lot of squirrels- but have you ever seen a red one? You can usually find them wandering in woodlands while they feast on hazelnuts by cracking the shell in half. With their reddish-brown coat and the pale underside and bushy tail.
Who wouldn’t want to get closer to these mischievous yet so cute animals? Well, a Swedish photographer Johnny Kääpä takes pictures of these little fellas that out of curiosity they come by the camera. While they position themselves in front of the lense, it captures the most hilarious yet so cute pictures. Kääpä has spent years trying to be friends with them so they won’t run away. At first, the photographer used ling lenses and captured them from afar. However now he uses a different technique with smaller lenses that allows being closer to them in order to document their candid moments better.
Kappa photos divulge the rawest thing squirrels do throughout the year. From foraging nuts to climbing trees to doing other chores as collecting walnuts or just being busy. Nonetheless, they can be funky too, and no better way to show this rather than Kääpäs photos. When he comes in the woods ready to take pictures they come right up nudging right in front of the lens. The outcome photos are fantastic as you can see their facial expression in detail.

One of Kääpä’s images in particular captures this characteristic in the most hilarious way. Titled Super Hero, the image shows a squirrel who looks like he is a Woddenland Superman. The exact photo gave Kaapa Wildlife Photography Awards. Although all the photos besides being fascinating they bring us some good laughs as well.
