Artists really see the beauty in the most mundane things. They don’t see things as they are, but how they can be transformed with the strokes of a brush and the help of some colors. One of these extraordinary humans is Tom Bob, who has been using odd corners of the street as a canvas to express his artistic talent.
For him, a manhole cover becomes a delicious pepperoni pizza, a frying pan, an Oreo cookie, compass, a squashed turtle, and an escape route for a crocodile. For him as an artist, it’s all about finding possibilities and transforming an urban landscape into colorful characters or objects.
“My goal is to transform street objects into fun whimsical characters,” says Tom Bob, “creating the emotion of happiness and wonder.” This emotion is exactly what he has been able to create for people. It’s incredible to see how these weird-looking objects that often go unnoticed can morph according to his fantasy.
