Dogs can be the greatest company to have around, so it’s Mochi, the furbaby whose life is full of excitement and joy. His main task is being cute, which he totally nails day by day.
This lovely pug is the inspiration behind the comic series of the Spanish artist Gemma Gené, who currently lives in New York. Her adorable drawing features her, Mochi, and his two rescued brothers Huey and Duey who have won the hearts of 343k followers on her Instagram page “157ofgemma.”
Gemma was missing her pug so much while being at work, so she started doing some cartoons of him in the subway to cheer herself up, without knowing that one day they would become hit among cartoon enthusiasts and dog people, who find her cartoons very relatable.
A comment that I get a lot is ‘do you have cameras in my home because my dog does the exact same thing!’ she said. “As it turns out, what I thought was so unique about Mochi is common in many dogs! We accidentally created a very supportive dog-loving community that has gradually grown over time.”
Gemma also said she has tried to be very consistent about posting comics on their daily life together. With time, her drawing style has changed, more characters were added, and two new members came to Mochi and Gemma’s family. “It’s Mochi’s twin chihuahua brothers, the Twinchis, or Mochi’s BFF Ben.”
The artist also improved her drawing skills and style, and she started adding colors and doing animation from time to time.
Here are some of her comics which you can enjoy and relate too if you have a dog.
