We all love some dark humor, twisted ending comics, and Elizabeth Pich and Jonathan Kruz, aka War and Peas, know how to create just the perfect amount of that humor, without making it go ugly. Their comics include quite some unique characters, from a slutty witch to speaking mountains and trees, every single one of their comics with makes you crack up in laughter, and their 880k Instagram followers approve that.
When it comes to the topics their comics talk about, you can see that’s a pure fruit of their imagination, except in some occasions where they chose to talk about some relevant subjects of today, like fat-shaming or ecological issues, but always taking that dark and hilarious turn while creating.
Earthwonders reached out to War and Peas to know a little bit about their work. Even though their schedule was quite tight, they managed to share a little bit of information with us.
“We started making these comics in 2011. We’re happy to say we’ve changed quite a bit since then. We’ve had the privilege to be able to grow individually, but also become more professional as a team. It’s still hard sometimes, because we don’t always agree, but it’s good, honest work and we try our best,” shared War and Peas.
They release comics every Sunday, and they have been doing so since 2016. They gained followers very quick, and you can truly say it’s well deserved. They even released a book called “Funny Comics for Dirty Lovers.” So you can have their stories in your home. They also have a store where they sell all sorts of merchandise.
This is how they describe themselves on their website: “War and Peas is an ongoing webcomic made by two individuals, Elizabeth Pich and Jonathan Kunz. Bounded by fate and an obsession for carrot cake and alien movies, they roam the streets of their notorious hometown Saarbrücken, Germany.”
Elizabeth and Jonathan said that their collaboration is so strong, and being both very stubborn probably they will never stop making comics. They have built a fandom through the years who love their work, but there are some who take humor too seriously. “Every time we get even slightly political, people seem to be upset. If people don’t agree with our values, they don’t have to follow us. We’re fine with fascist followers leaving our realm of laughter.”
One thing for sure, if you love the humor they present, you will never get bored since they’re always growing and creating more and more hilarious comics. So scroll down below, to see more of their work and satisfy your guilty pleasures with their sense of humor.
