Tauhid Bondia is an artist who lately has presented a hilarious series of comics relating to childhood in the ’80s. As it’s known, childhood it’s the time of that endless imagination, where everything it’s possible. You take some pillows and create your fortress from which you rule and protect yourself from dragons, dinosaurs and such. We all become nostalgic when we go back and remember the way we used to be, how we used to think, what we used to do. Everything was so simple, yet so great.
“In the beginning I had dreams of becoming a famous internet content creator. I’d seen a few other comic artists pull this off and just knew it for me. Turns out it was a lot harder than it looked. After creating four different comics without amassing throngs of adoring fans I finally just started making comics for myself and I think that appealed to people, ” explained the artist.
The artist brings features three friends in his comics, Kevin, Miles, and Curtis. They get in all sorts of trouble, quite a reflection of all the messes we have done when young, innocent, rotten, and just plain confused children.
Bondia says he gets a lot of inspiration from other cartoonists as well. “I’ve made a few friends and we like to bounce ideas off each other. Being part of that community is an endless source of inspiration.”
The artist shares why he chose to create comics about childhood in the ’80s in particular : “I wanted to make a comic that I could be sincere about. I’d tried other genres but only because they were popular and I thought it would make the comic successful. I chose a different direction with Crabgrass, instead making it about a period in my life that I often look back on fondly. It just happens to be when I was a kid.
