Artist Creates a Counterbalance to 2020’s Bad Events With Her “Good News” Illustration Series

2020 was a wreck, and everywhere in the media, there was more and more bad news every day. Being surrounded everyday by this negativity, Amii James an illustrator from North Devon, United Kingdom decided to create a counterbalance to this.

The idea came to me when I saw a very generic list of good things that happened in 2020 (in retrospect, this wasn’t a particularly reliable source, but we learn from our mistakes!). I thought it was lovely, and I decided to illustrate a handful to share the joy with my followers. The response was incredible, and the post has reached millions of people. It’s great to know that you have brought a slice of positivity into so many people’s day. I loved creating the post, and people loved seeing it, so it only made sense to make it a weekly series!” said Amii when contacted by Earthwonders.

Despite everything bad that was happening, there was still some good news that for a lot of people went unnoticed. That is the reason why Amii started her ‘Good News This Week’ news series to share with people those positive stories.

“Many people have told me that seeing my weekly “Good News This Week” series is a highlight of their week, and the only time that they come across any positive news. Quite frankly, the only time I see positive news is when I do research for my posts”, explained the artists. “There is no denying that it was an awful year for many reasons, and good news can’t make that any better. However, I think it was felt globally that there wasn’t a shred of positivity that occurred for the entire year. So, to show that that isn’t the case is a pleasure, and a weight off the shoulders for many.”
Even though it looked impossible to find some good news in 2020, fortunately there were plenty. You just needed to be scrolling on the right webpages. “There are actually many websites that have the sole purpose of featuring only positive news stories! Before this series, I was never aware of them, but now they’re my favorite thing to browse through each week. So although the main news is very ‘doom and gloom’ and therefore the only thing that people regularly see, if you actively seek out the positive news then thankfully they aren’t difficult to find! In fact, sometimes I struggle to narrow down which stories I want to use, and that is usually decided by which ones I’d like to illustrate,” adds Amii for Earthwonders.

5 Heart-Touching New Comics By This Artist That Might Make You Want To Shed A Tear

Art is a representation of oneself. It is an expression. One can write out his sentiments in an artistically-constructed poem. Another one can express himself by painting how he feels. On the other hand, one can draw how he perceives the world. Thus, art is beautiful and is open to many interpretations.

For today, we’ll be having some comic strips by the Thai artist Tum Natakorn Ulit. His work, blended with real-life experiences, radiates melancholy, bitterness, and sadness to its readers. But in the end, his thought-provoking wordless comics would leave the reader out of words. You can read 5 of his comics below.
