Artist Illustrates the Real Intimacy Between a Couple, and Here Are 35 of Her Most Relatable Illustrations

We often look at a couple and think that their relationship it’s just goals. They look like everything we hope to have in a relationship, but we never know what happens behind closed doors. Are they as perfect as they seem, or just a couple with normal problems like each and every one of us?

To illustrate it better, Amanda Oleander, a 29-year-old artist creates some drawings that show the intimate life of a couple, an inspiration that came to life based on the intimate relationship between her and her husband, and everything that happens behind those closed doors.

“I have been illustrating and painting since I was a toddler. I’ve always enjoyed it and lost myself in creating art. I have been taking classes since I was a child. Later on, in life, I decided to pursue art as a career and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in illustration. A year after graduating I started working full time as E! Entertainment’s online illustrator for their articles.

About a year later in 2015 I started creating art from home and have been doing that ever since. I’m always working on a collection of art. Currently, I’m working on the drawing a day for 100 days project, so far I have created close to 700 illustrations for that. I am also working on a nursery animal collection and just finished illustrating and writing a children’s book with my husband,” said Amanda when reached out by Earthwonders.

She shares her work on her social media, where she has a lot of followers who support her work since they find it relatable to their own lives.  Amanda purely shows what it’s like to be in a relationship as every small and sometimes a little bit gross moment of our lives is captured with her skillful hand. I guess these little gross moments that you are comfortable sharing with your partner, it’s what makes the relationship even stronger.

Her collection of drawings is created with markers, pens, and a pencil.  First, she sketches out the idea with a pencil, then she inks it. After that, she erases the pencil and colors the illustration in. “It’s not challenging to come up with ideas because I create from my personal life experiences. First, the situation happens and then I illustrate it,” shared the artist.
