Artist Creates Hilarious Illustrations That Will Crack You Up Even in the most Serious Situation

Nathanael Fakes is a great artist who creates hilarious comic series with his own unique style that features ridiculous situations, gags, puns, and anything from humans and animals to inanimate objects. His comics are the exact right thing you’re going to need if you’re looking for a light break in a serious matter.

Ever since I was a kid, I always knew I wanted to be a cartoonist. I was inspired by classic Disney movies and comic strips from the newspaper. My first paying gig was when I won a contest to draw the cover of my grade school yearbook! It paid, I believe, five bucks — but from that point on, I knew I could get paid for cartooning. I also loved reading The Far Side, Calvin & Hobbes, Garfield, and many other strips/comics to mention. They were all inspiring and I learned a bit from all of them,” explained Nate for Earthwonders.

His illustrations and captions provide a powerful two-punch combination in his punchlines, knocking you out with a good joke. “It’s just kind of natural for me. I like creating quick gags that people can enjoy. That being said, I’m in a new direction with my work right now with more serious comics. I have a book coming out in the fall of 2022 called A FADE OF LIGHT, which is about my ex-stepfather’s dementia. Definitely a serious subject. So, I equal it out by continuing on with the gag comics. Plus, in my graphic novel work, there’s definitely humor mixed in when possible.”

Coming up with these comics that  make the audience crack up is quite a long process of work, which the artist explained for Earthwonders.

“It’s a matter of writing every day. Drawing is important, too, but writing is the most crucial part. I always say that the writing is about 70% and drawing is 30% — and that’s what makes them work. The process I have is a strict routine of starting at 5 AM. I work on my comics until about 9 AM, then it’s off to client projects (currently a lot of writing gigs). I’ll look back at my work later in the afternoon, make corrections, and so forth. I’m definitely a work-a-holic when it comes to cartooning. You kind of have to be to make it as a cartoonist these days. Days when I say to myself, “Okay, I’m taking the day off!” I usually don’t. Even on vacations, I end up doing SOMETHING cartooning-related. I probably should try to really take time off, because a part of me realizes that’s important,” said the artist. ” The process itself is mostly digital. I enjoy working on my iPad Pro and an app called Procreate. I then upload my comics into Photoshop for finishing touches. I keep notebooks of ideas and sketch those out with just a normal pencil.”

99% of his audience loves the work, and there might be a few that ‘don’t get it’ or think it’s stupid, but the artist keeps creating no matter what.

5 Heart-Touching New Comics By This Artist That Might Make You Want To Shed A Tear

Art is a representation of oneself. It is an expression. One can write out his sentiments in an artistically-constructed poem. Another one can express himself by painting how he feels. On the other hand, one can draw how he perceives the world. Thus, art is beautiful and is open to many interpretations.

For today, we’ll be having some comic strips by the Thai artist Tum Natakorn Ulit. His work, blended with real-life experiences, radiates melancholy, bitterness, and sadness to its readers. But in the end, his thought-provoking wordless comics would leave the reader out of words. You can read 5 of his comics below.
