Twitter Page Shares 30 Of The Funniest British Media Headlines

Brits are a whole different breed. Besides being known for their ‘slight’ obsession with football and a morning ‘cuppa,’ we love them for their quirky humor. It turns out that British media organizations are not exempt from that unique British banter. That typical sense of humor is perfectly depicted in some of the most uproarious headlines that have appeared in the British news.

Media plays a massive role in Brtish people’s lives. Recent research suggests that 36% of people in the UK “trust most news most of the time.” That’s one-third of the population. These findings suggest that millions of people turn to media as a news source, and it’s the headlines that draw the reader in.

With almost 100K followers, the Twitter account “Mental UK Headlines” is where all the hilarious and sometimes non-sense media headlines are shared. And, clearly, do not reveal any information of high public importance to boot. You certainly would not expect to see something as such in a respected and trusted news source, especially next to reports of crime and murder. But yet, there you go.

Take a look at some of the headlines and new stories found in the British press that are simply bizarre and ludicrous. Which ones did you find the most entertaining?

That’s the moral lesson to be learned in this viral Twitter thread by Gennifer Hutchison. For her, there are things that male historians and anthropologists get wrong because they usually don’t involve women’s perspectives in their research.
