English is considered the ‘global language’ because it’s either the official or common second language in many countries. Yet, it’s full of interesting quirks that make it a complex language to learn. You can be a native English speaker yet put yourself in such an awkward situation where you wish you could bury one’s head in the sand. And let’s not even start with the American vs. British English. It’s a whole different story.
In English, some words are spelled the same yet pronounced differently. Others might sound identical but have wholly unrelated meanings. And the list doesn’t stop here, but we don’t have the entire day. With so many intricacies, miscommunication is simply inevitable.
