Artist Use a Swimming Pool as a Canvas to Recreate Van Gogh’s Iconic Painting

Vincent Van Gogh was a great artist of his time whose work still continues to inspire artists today. His iconic painting, Starry Night, was recreated many times and in different mediums from admires of his work. From embroidery designs to LEGO sets, the recreations have been fantastic, but the latest recreation the artists have taken this painting to a whole new scale.

Buenos Aires-based artists Camila Despalanques and Rocío Fernández (of Amancay Murales) turned a swimming pool into a canvas to mimic Van Gogh’s swirling brushstrokes. The swimming pool with the size of 7 x 3.5 meter (22 x 11 feet) piece was hand-painted over the course of several days, and features tons of beautiful details like in the original painting. The artist started with a vibrant blue base then began adding the elements of the famous night sky.

After the painting process was over, the pool was filled with water, giving that flowing, rippling and twisting effect right before your eyes.
