Autumn can be the most beautiful season for sightseeing. The whole beauty of it lies in the pretty leaves changing to yellow and red. There’s one tree in particular that has dragged attention during this season.
This is a 1,400-year-old Ginko tree in China that is covering the ground with golden leaves, removing every trace of the green. This is a special tree that is planted near the Gu Guanyin Buddhist Temple in the Zhongnan Mountains.
Ginko trees (sometimes called “maidenhair”) are sometimes called “living relics,” because they haven’t changed much over 270 million years. This tree has a special location, but has also a special use in both culinary and medical area. Its seeds are used in a vegetarian dish called “Buddha’s delight”. Maybe that’s why it was planted near the temple so long ago
