We never think that the most TRAGIC experience in life is losing a parent.
In the eastern Democratic Republik of the Congo, at the Virunga National Park, Patrick Karabaranga a ranger was captured sitting with an orphaned gorilla. Between them, there is a bond that is truly touching and the gorilla shows a heartbroken expression by placing his hand on Patrick’s leg.
Like this gorilla, there are three other ones that currently are living in the sanctuary, as a result of illegal attempts by traffickers to smuggle them out of the park.
Virunga National Park currently resides more than 200 mountain gorillas, which accounts for about a quarter of the world’s mountain gorilla population.
