10 Pics of Sheep in Tuscany Fields in Italy

It is ironic how little most of us know about sheep, given how deeply entrenched they are in human culture. They were domesticated between 11000 and 9000 BC for the use of their woollen fleece, meat and milk. The animals have been referred to by different cultures, religious texts and even astrology for thousands of years.

Sheep are grazing animals that eat grasses and other low-growing vegetation and ruminate. They spend most of the day alternating between periods of grazing and resting/ruminating, and sleep for only around 4 hours per day. Sheep are highly social animals – they always like to be around other sheep they are familiar with and thus find isolation from their flock stressful. More specifically, they form strong social hierarchies within their flocks, and sometimes show aggression to maintain these. In particular, they can deliver a painful kick to anyone who gets too close!

And today, we are all about sheep from Tuscan fields. Many photographers take several pictures during few trips to Italy, mainly on spring and summer. And since herds of sheep are very popular in this area, a photographer, Marcin Sobas , decided to make some pictures in good locations with them. It was not easy to take the shots due to their fast movements. Also, all of them were guarded by Tuscan dogs that are not always friendly and soft with photographers. So obviously, it was not a good idea to negotiate with them!

Below you have some cute photos of these sheep, from this Facebook page. Enjoy!
