To the snail fans, be ready, we’re about to amaze you. 🙂
This talented nature photographer, Vyacheslav Mishchenko, has an eye for photos that expose the small wonders of the natural world, showing viewers tiny things they would have never seen. He compiled a collection of amazing macro photography shots. Gazing at his photos is almost like looking through the eyes of an insect, a lizard, or, in this case, a snail.
Mishchenko said: “As a child, my father taught me to hunt mushrooms near my home and we would always come across all manner of bugs and creatures. As I got older and my interest in photography grew, I decided I wanted to catch these magical scenes on camera. My family used to spend a lot of weekends camping in a beautiful forest. Thus photography and nature naturally entered my life. I took my first macro shot when I was 10 years old. After getting married and having children, photography went by the wayside. Most of the time I spent on painting. With the advent of digital photography, I have renewed my passion for photography. “
He prefers to shoot the stars of his shots while they’re in their natural habitats. But that doesn’t mean that the results aren’t extraordinary. The shots are so awe-inspiring that the creatures in his photos almost look like they’re posing for the camera. His photographs include spotted ladybugs to balancing frogs, snails enthralled by drops of water or kissing and insects stretching across gaps of water in setups that are nothing less than picture-perfect. He uses a Fujifilm Finepix S200EXR – his first digital camera, for most of these photos.
He also said: “I photograph all insects but snails have touched my heart particularly. I think that snails are simply extraordinary not only in their shape and form but also in their beauty and behavior. They are magic creatures for me.” He recommends that aspiring photographers who wish to capture similar moments be patient. He also offers other suggestions: “to develop artistic taste, to be romantic and…to love nature.”
After taking a peek at these fantastic photos we’re sure that you’ll love snails more and also if you’ve never been a fan of the little shelled creatures, you might start looking at them in a different light.
