Not all of us can enjoy seeing stunning views when looking out our windows, but sometimes, even a brick wall with a window can be worth paying attention to. Alper Yesiltas, a photographer and lawyer from Istanbul, Turkey, spent the last 12 years shooting photos of the same window.
The window opened out from a corridor in an apartment block, and it was positioned right next to Yesiltas’ room. It was captured under different weather and different light.
Yesiltas started photographing the window in 2005. During that time, he posted some of his pictures in the internet and in a way, it caught people’s attention. He is happy that the uniqueness of the photos intrigued publishers to use two of them on book covers and one in an exhibition. However, 12 years later, owners of the building decided to demolish it, in order to build a new one. While the building was being demolished, the photographer managed to take a final picture.
And finally, Yesiltas took the last picture of the window when the demolition took place on on May 1st, 2017.
