Well, 2020 has been a rough year for everyone: the COVID-19 pandemic has caused businesses to close their doors, people to stay inside and countless celebrations and events to be canceled or postponed. It’s especially hard on high school seniors, who had to miss out on much of their senior year, and big milestones like prom and graduation. But that didn’t stop one senior from experiencing the prom.
So, this teenager, Josh Robert wanted to do something after his school cancels prom, so he decided to host his own party. He wanted something memorable to mark the occasion and decided to take his sweet dog, Reba, as his date – gown, crown, the works. Josh said: “She’s my everything. We’ve had her since she was a little puppy and now she’s 10. It wouldn’t have been the same if she wasn’t included.”

Josh’s sister helped him to prepare for this affair. She even repurposed one of her old dresses for the dog to wear. Reba dressed up for occasion since prom would be incomplete without a photoshoot. This is where his aunt comes in. She said: “Josh is her boy. Reba sleeps on his bed next to him every night.”
Josh’s aunt, Tommie, is a photographer. She learned about his plans, so she volunteered to take pictures of their special day. Besides, this is an opportunity to work with the dog who she thinks is an ideal model, she said: “She has always been a little diva.”
We should mention that Josh is dating someone for the past 6 months, she also attended this prom, but more as a third wheel. Reba might not be the only girl in his life, but there is no doubt that she is as important to him. Josh said that the dog gets a little jealous whenever his girlfriend is around, “She was OK with it. Sesi loves Reba, even though Reba may not think the same way.”

There might not have been an official prom this year, but these two still made it a night to remember, and we think they deserve the crown. “Reba did get the title of prom queen. She wouldn’t have it any other way” said Josh.
Dogs really are our best friends, and they deserve to be our prom dates as much as anyone.
