23 Painful Images as Shared on The “Make Me Suffer” Reddit Group

A lot of the memories we have are based on a certain trauma we experienced at some point in our lives. Although life is filled with all kinds of moments, we are inclined to remember the bad moments above the good ones. It is scientifically proven that we learn more from negative experiences than we do from positive ones. Whenever we come across witnessing a moment of violence of any form, or any situation that radiates negative energy, we can’t stop staring at that sight.

We like to torture ourselves every once in a while. There’s even a subreddit called Make Me Suffer that’s dedicated to bringing tears to people’s eyes. This subreddit counts 1 million members so far who all share some of the saddest content on the internet.

To illustrate to you what this group shares, we made a selection of some of the images to share with you. However, as their description says, ” If it hurts to look at, post it”. In class, I learned that when I don’t understand something, someone else probably does. It’s more useful to learn someone’s perspective in a field than to force your perspective and fail miserably.

That’s the moral lesson to be learned in this viral Twitter thread by Gennifer Hutchison. For her, there are things that male historians and anthropologists get wrong because they usually don’t involve women’s perspectives in their research.
