Thanks to various props, special effects, and editing, today it’s nearly impossible to tell whether the movie or a TV show was shot in a real location. And that’s the magic and beauty of the cinematography. Although many film scenes are shot on a sound stage, filmmakers often choose to shoot on real sites as they believe that helps achieve greater realism.
Very often real shooting locations are edited and changed so much to fit the film, that they become unrecognizable and look almost nothing like they look on a daily basis. Still, there are plenty of shooting sites that have maintained the original feel of the place.
Traveling to famous movie sites could be now considered a separate branch of tourism. But what about those old classic films that were released when we were very little, maybe not even born yet? How the filming sites from 40, even 60 years ago have changed?
A man named Paul Slattery has traveled to hundreds of locations where many classic films and TV shows were filmed and captured what they look like in real-time. The result of the side-by-side comparison is, needless to say, astonishing. Take a look yourself.
