Time really reveals who your true friends are. After so many years spent together, sometimes it’s easy to overlook and ignore the ‘red flags’ in a friendship. No one is ideal, but everyone deserves a good friend. Someone who will put you up when you’re feeling down and make you feel comfortable and yourself at all times.
This, unfortunately, wasn’t the case for Reddit user AITAmakeup33. The woman was asked to be a maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding, but the soon-to-be bride has a special request just for her – to not wear any makeup to her wedding. At first impression, it’s a rather weird and unusual request, especially for a wedding. But the reasoning behind this request was that the bride didn’t want her best friend, the Original Poster, “to ‘overshadow’ (her words) her at her own wedding.”
The deal is that the OP feels a lot more confident and attractive wearing makeup, and she uses it to cover the scar on her face, and the bride knows it perfectly well. The OP turned to the AITA subreddit to find out if she would be the a-hole if she skipped her best friend’s wedding for that reason. Besides the Redditors being unanimous about their decision, they also recognized that bride’s and OP’s friendship was doomed to fall.
